How to Beat the Sisters in SILENT BREATH
Four voices, four rules. Obey the line you hear or the night resets.
The Sisters of the Forest are the headline hunters. Jumpscares waste your nerves; Sisters waste the run. Each one announces herself with a voice line and a camera flicker. The Game Over screen often hints at the counter you just failed. Learn the four rules cold, then keep the encounter sheet handy. This page is the long version, cross-checked against community writeups and Steam achievement guides — treat lines as paraphrases of what players hear, not a subtitle dump.
They can appear more than once per night. Surviving Big Sister at the gas station does not retire her. Two Sisters in one tape is an achievement and a nightmare; you do not have to outplay both to get the badge, but you do have to recognise which voice is speaking.
Big Sister — do not look away
Cues: crying-laugh, rustle, flicker. She behaves like a Weeping Angel or SCP-173: if you stare, she stalls; if you turn, she closes. Find her immediately. Keep the camera on her face and backpedal. Shift+S (or your sprint-back bind) works; you can cross brush and rocks without a perfect view of your feet. Distance until she drops off, then turn. There is no loud “she left” sting. Flashlight dimming or static often means a despawn, including hers. Never assume the laugh is a fake scare — confirming with a look is cheaper than a wipe.
Blind Sister — hide-and-seek, or just leave
She drags a body and offers a game: you hide, she seeks, countdown from ten. She cannot see; long arms still catch trees. Buildings are the honest hide. Trees are unreliable; circle if you must so arms miss. Many players ignore hide-and-seek and sprint one heading until flicker. That works until you run into Armless. Limit extra noise; flashlight can stay on. Reduced seek range appeared in later multiplayer patches, but she remains the sister people call hardest.
Armless Sister — freeze completely
She asks to smell you or come close and tells you not to move. Flicker, then she is often in your face. Release WASD. Steam guides disagree on mouse: some say any look fails, others say look is free. If you are farming the survival achievement, freeze look and move until you know your patch. If she leaps into the canopy, you already failed; a “cool” jump is a death fake-out. She despawns after the sniff when you obey.
Shy Sister — do not look
She covers her face and talks about ugliness or not staring. Looking too long makes her retreat and return for a kill. Turn away, even from feet, and wait roughly half a minute. You can walk if your camera stays off her. Opposite of Big Sister. Mixing them up is a common wipe.
Order of operations when you hear a woman in the trees
- Stop sprinting in a random new direction until you know which sister.
- Listen for hide-and-seek, don’t move, don’t look, or wordless sobbing.
- Apply one rule only. Do not stare at Shy. Do not freeze for Big.
- Keep the mic quiet (Stay Silent) while you solve the rule.
Fatal non-sisters (Stalker stare, butcher chase after the cabin, knife chaser) are listed on Wiki. Cabin specifics sit in Butcher’s Cabin. If you came here from a poster route, return to the walkthrough once the voice is gone.
Practice by treating every female VO as a quiz. The forest will keep testing you until the answers are muscle memory.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Which SILENT BREATH Sister is hardest?
Players usually name Blind Sister because hide-and-seek and long arms punish bad cover. Shy versus Big confusion is a close second.
Can two Sisters spawn together?
Yes. There is an achievement for encountering two in one playthrough. You do not have to survive both for that badge.
Does looking at Armless Sister kill you?
Guides conflict. The safe farm is zero movement and minimal mouse until she despawns. A leap into the trees means you already failed the freeze.
Is Big Sister the same as the Stalker?
No. Big Sister is a weeping hunter you must stare at. The Stalker is a crooked-head figure in underwear; staring or approaching also works, but he is a different spawn.
