SILENT BREATH 1.01A
Same-day hotfix after 1.0: turn fisheye off, plus a handful of audio repairs.
Version 1.0 of SILENT BREATH left Early Access on 20 August 2026. The same calendar day, Exodiac Studios shipped 1.01A — a small Steam news item titled “1.01A FIXES & FISHEYE TOGGLE.” It is not a content drop. It is the first post-release accessibility valve after a launch that had just redesigned the entire found-footage stack. Read Version 1.0 for true ending, compass assist, five-player cap, and the light-hating threat. Stay here for what 1.01A actually changed and why players searched for it overnight.
Official bullets, paraphrased without inventing extra systems:
- Accessibility option to enable or disable the fisheye effect.
- Minor audio fixes and improvements.
That is the whole patch. Everything else on this page is context so you do not confuse 1.01A with the 1.0 camera redesign, or with older EA graphical notes.
Why fisheye needed a switch the same night
1.0’s immersion list already said the fisheye effect was redesigned, VHS was rebuilt, dynamic camera tilt was added, stress overlays hit behind-scares, AutoDOF was repaired, and Hide HUD landed under Settings → Accessibility. Those changes sell handheld tape. They also nauseate people who bought a microphone horror game, not a lens simulator.
1.01A does not roll back the redesign. It gives a binary: fisheye on or off. If you still feel sick, 1.0’s other levers remain — tilt, HUD, footage mode, graphics. Walk them in that order on settings. Do not assume “I turned off fisheye” also disabled tilt.
Hide HUD is separate. New navigators should keep location names and the 45-metre compass assist visible. Compass explains why the assist is a crutch, not a minimap.
Audio line — what we can honestly say
Steam did not publish a file-by-file audio changelog for 1.01A. Earlier 1.0 notes already claimed scare sound reworks and general audio bug fixes. Multiplayer history is louder: Open Mic, 1.25-second buffer, Mic Gain broken then fixed, helicopter too loud in the intro, missing poster pickup “boom.” If a specific glitch still bites you after 1.01A, treat it as a new report for Discord / Steam, not as a feature this patch promised to kill.
Microphone horror still needs a headset. Zero gain remains a valid accessibility choice and a Steam badge. Stay Silent.
What 1.01A is not
It is not the multiplayer thank-you update (November 2025). It is not the February 2026 flashlight / five-entity / experimental five-player celebration. It is not the true ending. It does not add locations, Sisters, or achievements. It does not replace Guides Hub or Wiki Hub.
If your install still shows Early Access compass complaints, you are not on 1.0+1.01A. Update. If fisheye has no toggle, you are not on 1.01A. If tapes do not exist, you are not on 1.0.
Suggested settings pass after updating
- Confirm build is 1.0 or newer, then 1.01A.
- Accessibility: fisheye to taste, HUD visible for night one, arachnophobia if you need it (that mode is older than 1.01A).
- Audio: mic gain, then VOIP / Open Mic if you insist on friends — after a solo story pass, per the 1.0 letter.
- Graphics: current sliders; 1.0 already fixed “settings do nothing” and muddy low-shadow cases.
- Play. Do not debug Lumen during Armless Sister.
Development continues after 1.0; the solo developer said so. When 1.01B or 1.1 lands, this hub should gain a line. Until then, 1.01A is the fisheye switch plus audio polish. For whether the game is worth the sale price after Mixed reviews, review. For co-op history, multiplayer update.
Players who bounced on launch night because the new lens stack felt like a fishbowl now have a supported way out without rolling back the story patch. That is the entire reason this page exists instead of a footnote on 1.0. Keep the 1.0 article for tapes, storms at 4 AM, and the five-player cap. Keep this article for the toggle. Mixing them is how Steam comments claim “1.0 added a fisheye off switch” when that sentence belongs to 1.01A a few hours later.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
When did SILENT BREATH 1.01A ship?
20 August 2026, the same day as the 1.0 full release, according to Steam news timestamps.
Does 1.01A add the true ending?
No. True ending tape recorders are a 1.0 feature. 1.01A only toggles fisheye and touches audio.
Where do I turn fisheye off?
Settings → Accessibility after you are on 1.01A or newer.
Should I wait for a bigger patch?
Install 1.01A now if fisheye bothers you. Content patches will be separate Steam news items, summarised on this updates hub.
