System Requirements

SILENT BREATH is a photorealistic UE5 title with Lumen, fog, and found-footage post. Steam’s spec sheet is honest enough if you read the footnotes: microphone, headset, SSD highly recommended. This page reprints the official numbers, then translates them into 2026 shopping language and Deck expectations. The table widget is a reminder, not a benchmark farm.

What 1.0 changed about performance

The full-release notes list lighting reworks, texture passes, Lumen tuning, cheaper fog, shadow fixes on low presets, weather (rain/snow) appearing correctly, FSR & DLSS already updated in the co-op era. If you last played in 2024, try default 1.0 before you refund. If Play Tape still crash-loops, Steam discussions historically mentioned DLSS versions and public beta — verify against current threads, not this paragraph as eternal gospel.

Lower shadows, disable extra film experiments if they returned as options, and hide HUD only after you can run. Fisheye toggle in 1.01A is comfort, not FPS.

Steam Deck

Steam says playable, not verified. Expect handheld compromises: mic routing, thermals, small HUD. Test a short tape before a 5 AM hold. Controller support exists (Controls).

Storage and install

8 GB is small for UE5; SSD is the real requirement because streaming a forest off HDD feels like horror for the wrong reason. 1.0 fixed some streaming (house appearing late in a basic ending).

If you are under minimum, you can still try on low — Mixed reviews include performance complaints. Review is honest about that. If you meet recommended and still stutter, close overlays, then visit Updates in case a hotfix landed.

Mic is listed under additional notes because it is a mechanic, not optional flavour. No mic means you should still plug something in or accept zero-level play.

How to read Mixed reviews through this table

A GTX 1070 night in 2026 is a low preset night. Lumen and fog were retuned in 1.0, which helps, and still is not magic. If your card is below minimum, you are buying a slideshow that also listens to your mic — a bad combination. If you meet recommended and stutter, overlays (Discord, NVIDIA, Steam) are the first suspects, then ray-adjacent extras, then a crash loop on Play Tape that EA players already documented.

Deck users should not pretend the handheld is a 3060. Short tapes, lower shadows, accept that Sisters are harder when the frame hitch looks like a flicker cue. Flicker is a Sister tell in this game; a stutter can fake it. That is why specs belong next to Sisters in your reading order if you are underpowered.

SSD is not snobbery. Streaming a forest off a platter drive creates pop-in that 1.0 tried to fix on endings and still punishes on first load. Eight gigabytes is the install; the working set is the night. Close Chrome. Then play. If you still cannot hold 40 fps looking at trees, the review already told you Mixed exists for this reason. Refund windows are shorter than a bunker chase.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Can I run SILENT BREATH on 8 GB of RAM?

It is the official minimum. Close browsers. 16 GB is the recommended floor for a stable night.

Does it run on Steam Deck?

Listed as playable with possible limitations. Test microphone and thermals on a short tape.

Is an SSD required?

Highly recommended in Steam notes. The install size is 8 GB; streaming hitches are the issue, not capacity.
