SILENT BREATH Butcher's Cabin
Table key, hunting butcher, two minutes of running, then the bunker tower.
The butcher cabin is a small building with a large tax. It holds the silver key for the bunker. It also converts the butcher from a jumpscare cameo into a chasing killer. If you only want posters, you can ignore this structure forever. If you want Knock Knock, the phone, or completionist routes, you come here on purpose.
How to find it
Classic heading: south and slightly west of spawn. Gas station first (behind the house), then a little west and full south. Alternate: from the starting cabin’s right corner, diagonal toward amusement-park mailboxes, pass the railroad car, keep heading, blue tents mean you are close. Over-hugging the railcar puts you on the cabin’s left; downhill, look right.
Carnival is a nearby giant. If you hit the park, the cabin is often described as slightly south-east of it, between carnival and a blue boat. 1.0 location names and the compass beat any one comment. Coordinate examples from players (cabin stairs ~228, 307 on one dump) are seed-flavoured; use them as “that quadrant,” not gospel.
Public beta omitted the cabin. 1.0 has it.
What happens when you enter
Key on the table. Take it. About five to ten seconds later the hunting butcher spawns and taunts. This is not the tree cameo. Keep running about two minutes until he drops. Buildings and furniture will trap you; open forest is safer. Mic screams during the chase throw the key run (Stay Silent).
Jumpscare butcher in the woods can be ignored. Cabin butcher cannot. If you hear him without having entered, you may be in the non-fatal state — still do not walk into a blade.
After the key
Go bunker: cemetery/church side, sparking tower that is not the gas station. Full steps on the bunker guide. Same-tape finish is the safe assumption.
Co-op: one looter, everyone else outside with an exit heading. Consecutive butcher multi-kills were patched; stacking in the door is still stupid.
Sisters can still join the chase. If hide-and-seek starts, you now have two hunters. Solve Sister rules even while the butcher exists — the game can be cruel.
Mark the cabin on your mental map as a resource node, not a rest stop. There is no rest stop.
Why this building eats so many nights
Players do not wipe here because the key is hidden well. They wipe because the cabin looks like cover. In a jumpscare forest, a roof feels like mercy. The hunting butcher is the lesson that interiors are not checkpoints. If you already grabbed posters on the carnival side, dying here reshuffles those posters — the most expensive possible key. Some runners grab the key on a dedicated suicide tape just to learn the two-minute kite, then do a clean bunker tape. That is slower and calmer than mixing posters and butchers on night one.
Listen for taunts versus the mute jumpscare cameo. If you never entered a cabin and he still sprints, treat him like the knife chaser: keep moving, do not turn into a corner. If 1.0’s light-hating threat overlaps the chase, you may have to douse the flashlight while still running — ugly, but the wiki hub is where that interaction should be updated when the community names the entity.
Bring Stay Silent discipline. A scream after a clean key pickup is the classic throw. Then leave this page and finish the bunker before you celebrate on VOIP.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Does the butcher always kill you in the cabin?
The hunting state after entry is lethal if he catches you. Tree cameos can be non-fatal. Assume cabin entry is a chase.
Can I hide in the cabin until he leaves?
No. Leave and run. Two minutes of movement is the documented clear.
Is the cabin required to beat SILENT BREATH?
Not for the five-poster or 5 AM paths. It is required for the bunker phone ending.
